Objective of DMF and PMKKKY

Working for the interest of people and areas affected by mining related operations by Identifying affected people living in directly affected areas where direct mining related operations such as excavation, mining, blasting, beneficiation and waste disposal (over burden dumps, tailing ponds, transport corridors, etc.), etc., are located and indirectly affected areas where people have legal and occupational and traditional rights over the land being mined and where local population is adversely affected on account of economic, social and environmental consequences due to mining related operations.

The development and welfare activities taken up by DMFTs are in the nature of complementing the ongoing schemes/projects being funded by the State as well as Central Government. Efforts are made to achieve convergence with the State and the District Plans, so that the activities taken up by the Foundation supplement the development and welfare activities and are treated as extra budgetary resources for the State Plan.

High priority projects

Such as creation necessary infrastructure for Drinking water supply, creation of Health care facilities and providing necessary staffing, equipment and supplies, including education and nutrition related programs with focus on maternal and child health, malnutrition, special programme for welfare of aged and disabled people, organising or conducting training programmes for skill development, self-employment schemes, support to Self Help Groups, etc., maintenance and damage repair of road, bridges, railways and waterways projects; Environmental preservation, mine pollution prevention and control technologies, safety measures for abandoned mines.

Other priority Projects

Such as Irrigation development, Energy and Watershed Development, rainwater harvesting system, prevention of pollution of streams, lakes, ponds, ground water, other water sources in the region, etc.,
